Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Officers report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then found multiple other smeared cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials say preliminary tests indicate the substance was probably human blood.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; investigators are currently not aware of any physical harm in association with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities announced they were working "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the public for details.
A high-ranking official stated the attack rendered him stunned and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on online, recalling the death of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at residents of migrant background in 2020.
