19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev secured his first title for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging period, managing just a single victory at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive victory over challenger Moutet.

This represents his maiden title following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court since spring of that year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at 21 distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters together, so to get a title is particularly special," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child her name, because the initial championship I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six title deciders, comprising in that event previously this season.

His counter-punching approach and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted some to doubt if his capacity to perform at the highest level was over.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the last five points to go ahead.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his first ATP Tour championship, took control to push for a third set.

He defended 4 early-game chances in a tight third set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner secured the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent incapable to control a return after a lengthy match.
